OUTLANDER TV SERIES

Outlander is a British-American television drama series based on the Outlander series of novels by Diana Gabaldon. The TV show, created by Ronald D. Moore, began its first run of 16 episodes in the United States in August 2014.

The producers have now renewed the series for a second season of at least 13 episodes, which will be based on Dragonfly in Amber, the second book in Gabaldon's series.

Outlander follows the story of Claire Randell,
a married nurse from 1946 who is mysteriously swept back in time to 1743,
where she is immediately thrown into an unknown world where her life is threatened, encountering civil war and the dashing Highland warrior Jamie Fraser.

Outlander, is a eight book series, the first of which was published 20 years ago, and have become a phenomenon selling over 25 million copies worldwide.

In 2914 the series has been filmed across Scotland, but many locations in Highland Perthshire have been used, especially
Doune Castle, in Perthshire, which was chosen for the main location (Doune was also used in the Monty Python and The Holy Grail film).

Outlander has been described as Scotland's answer to Game of Thrones, the hit series from the US HBO network that has boosted the industry in
Northern Ireland where it is mainly filmed.

British Outlander fans are now eagerly waiting to discover when
Outlander will be aired in the UK.
