A brand new, purpose built visitor centre at the
Pitlochry Dam has opened this year. The new centre hosts an exhibition over two floors with educational/conference facilities for 60 people seated;
There is also a gift shop and a café with spectacularviews of the river,
the dam and Loch Faskally.
The exhibition tells the story of:
Hydro electricity transforming the way people lived and
worked; in Pitlochry and across the Highlands and Islands;
The modern importance of renewable energy for a low
carbon future; and
Hydropower co-existing with nature and the particular story
of protecting Scottish salmon.
